Moving to Key Largo in a month!
« on: September 12, 2011, 11:48:16 PM »
I have been riding forever.  I got my first mountain bike in 82.  Raced a lot in the 80's and then just been riding a lot since then.  My wife and I are moving to Key Largo from Western NC area (about 1 hour south of Tsali)  I have been looking for places to ride and people to meet.  Looks like Miami has a good bit of activity in the cycling scene.  I'm looking forward to my first trip to some of the trails down there.  I will be on either a brown Fisher Rig 29er single speed or a dark gray marin nail tail 29er geared bike with green spynergy spox wheels.  I plan on joining the club and helping out when i can.  I also have an event photography business (www.outdooreventphotos.com) that focuses on mountain bike races so i'm sure that i will be seeing many of you from behind the lens.  I might even have taken pics of some of you already.  See y'all in mid october!

Welcome to the club!  There are several great trails in South FL for you to explore and several great races to check out.  See you on the trails.

Welcome to South Fl, but.....coming from western NC, the off road riding may be somewhat anticlimatic.   I just mean that we  Floridians travel out to western NC whenever we can to experience off road riding that's more than just riding laps around a park and to get away from the hot, hot , hot.

Don't get me wrong, the trail riding quality is excellent and the SoFL riders are a great bunch of dedicated, enthusiastic people,  but realistically, it's never a wilderness experience and extended climbs or downhills are non-existent.  Don't mean to sound negative, but I just want you to know what to expect.   Race scene is pretty good if you're into competition by the Gone Riding race promoters that you may have bumped into at Tsali.

Pretty active road riding scene, but we are ranked #1 or 2 in cycling related automobile deaths in the country.  I better stop now...but welcome and I'm happy for your enthusiasm.

Boldly going nowhere.
